Our '2009 White Horse Challenge'  involves cycling to the sites of all of Wiltshire's 13 White Horses.   Of the 13 horses to exist in the county, 8 are still visible. Our plan is to cycle to at least one horse a month leaving our very own 'Westbury White Horse' until last' i.e. December 2009. The page acts as both a plan and a record of the challenge. We will update this page after each visit and add a photo as a momento. As 13 is considered to some as an unlucky number, we have included a 14th horse which is just over the border in Oxfordshire.

White Horse: Devizes (New)
Planned Date: 25/01/2009
Actual Date: 25/01/2009
Bike Type: Mountain
Distance Cycled: 40 Miles
Notes: A gentle ride out to Semington where we joined the canal which took us all the way to Devizes. The climb to the horse left us both panting hard at the top where we enjoyed a nice cup of tea. Recent hedge trimming along the canal resulted in a puncture - stopped at old petrol station in Steeple Ashton to repair. A very pleasant ride – one down!
